Hoi An Ancient Town Walking Tour
There was once sailing ships, crowded business in the river, traders from all over the world and colourful fairs…
The river is still there, the traders’ homes are still there too, and they turned to be ancient streets after several hundreds of years.
“ Time and tide wait for no man”!
The first place we will visit is the Japanese Covered Bridge, the symbol of Hoi An. Here you can see the original four hundred year old bridge. You can take nice photos and hear the stories of a huge water dragon which lies in the Pacific Ocean, from Japan via Viet Nam to India. Next we visit the ancient house : Phung Hung. Here you can see the carved wooden architecture of the house. We will stop at another famous Chinese Assembly Hall: Fujien which was built for worshipping the Goddess of the Sea : Thien Hau. Walking past lots of colonial houses that were built several hundreds of years ago. Then we will stop at another famous ancient trader’s house: Tan Ky. This is the famous house containing pretty carved wooden beams, columns and lucky objects such as long life apples, wealth - bringing fishes. Different levels of flooding come to the house in different years. Saying goodbye to the enthusiatic owner of the house, we walk to the riverbank and listen to the story of the “hoai” river or “missing” river. Take a rest for sugar cane juice and see the local ferry.
It is so colourful and interesting!
